Set in a privileged position in Portichol, Jávea, with spectacular sea and coastal views, the Primary School is approximately 2 km from the Secondary site.
They have excellent outdoor recreational facilities, including gardens and a swimming pool, as well as specialist language and music rooms, a fully equipped computer suite and infant and junior libraries. The pupils benefit from mixing with children of many different nationalities in small classes.
The commitment to small class sizes ensures the school has retained its family atmosphere during expansion, enjoying good relationships with parents and children. They have achieved a reputation for providing a quality education with a team of enthusiastic teaching staff.
The majority of Primary pupils transfer to the nearby Secondary school at the end of Year 6. Many complete their education at XIC and enter universities throughout Europe.
Their full Spanish programme is introduced from the age of 5. They also offer a wide variety of extracurricular activities in English and Spanish, including karate, tennis, football, piano, guitar, recorder, sport, golf, drama, art, computing and gardening. Children also have the opportunity of joining the orchestra and choirs.
The Secondary site is only minutes from the centre of Javea and some 400 metres from the Mediterranean Sea. Teaching rooms are clustered around a central courtyard with a separate playground to the rear, generally used for ball games.
Class size never exceeds 21 pupils, and are usually less than this, encouraging an atmosphere in which effective teaching and learning can thrive. There are two science laboratories, an ICT suite, assembly hall, music/ drama room, art & design room and specialist rooms for all the conventional academic subjects.
For the benefit of students a few subjects are taught in ability groups – English, Mathematics, Science, German, Spanish – whilst the majority of the curriculum is delivered to mixed ability form groups. They offer First Language Programmes in Spanish and German in addition to the broad and balanced English National Curriculum. The curriculum is enriched by visits to local places of interest. The main extra-curricular activities are karate, football, Spanish, drama, art, Spanish hip hop and golf.
The exam results are excellent and compare favourably with other non-selective independent schools elsewhere in Europe. Virtually all our sixth form leavers proceed to University, mainly in the UK, Germany and Spain.
